We want you to have a healthy work-life balance and take time to decompress and turn off work-mode regularly throughout the year. We care about you and your health. We also offer this for a selfish reason: we believe you're more productive if you take time off regularly.
- Request your vacation in Humaans.
- All vacation requests are subject to approval of your manager.
- If you wish to take more than one week vacation at a time, please talk to your manager before you add your request to Humaans.
- You should over-communicate and inform your manager and peers to make sure that you and your team's responsibilities are covered.
- Provide as much notice as possible, but at least twice as many days as your planned vacation (e.g., 6 business days notice for 3 days off). This gives the team time to put together a coverage plan.
- Block out your GCal to show that you are out, and colleagues, customers or applicants don’t book meetings with you on those days.
- Set an out of office on your email and have it point to someone else on the team.
🌐 Rest of world: 27 days / year
- Prorated based on your start date, starting January to December.
- On your 5 year anniversary, your paid vacation increases from 27 to 30 days.
- You can carry over max 5 days from one calendar year to the next. If you don't book them for this year, they will automatically be added to next year's allowance.
If you have more than 5 days of unused vacation at the end of the year, you will lose those vacation days.
🇺🇸 US: Flexible paid vacation
- We trust you to be responsible with your time off: enough that you can recharge, but not so much that it means we don't get any work done.
- We expect everyone to take at least 15 days off each year to recharge.
- While flexible, paid vacation generally should not exceed 27 days per year, to ensure a manageable workload and equitable use of PTO for all Checkly raccoons.
- Like all time off, paid vacation is requested, approved and tracked in Humaans.
- It shows up in your “Time away” section as “Unlimited”, because Humaans doesn’t allow us to customize the wording. What is meant here is “Flexible”.
